Views and charts

One table, many ways to look at it: worksheet, Excel, form, bar and line, pivot, six special charts, and the selectors that filter a dashboard. A view never copies the data.

2. Worksheet viewThe plainest and most-used view — the same table with a different set of visible columns, a different order and a different filter. Show different people different columns, or keep a few filter combinations you use every day.
3. Excel Sheet view (Beta)An Excel-like workbook grid over your table's data, with chosen columns marked fillable. For people who want the Excel feel while typing, and for layouts that have to look like a spreadsheet report.
4. Form viewTurn a table into an entry form — inputs generated from the columns, required fields, a confirmation after submitting. Use it for repeated entry yourself, put it on a dashboard for other people, or publish it as a public link on the team edition.
5. Bar & LineOne column on the X axis, one or more on Y, each drawn as a bar or a line — with left and right Y axes, data labels, colour rules and null-as-zero. Best on summary tables and on data that is already one row per category.
6. Data Pivot: report, bar, line, pieCross two dimensions and total them straight off a detail table, with no summary table in between. Four presentations — pivot report (the cross-tab), pivot bar, pivot line and pivot pie.
7. 8. Text, selectors and input componentsThe views that draw no chart — a text element for a caption or a big number, and dropdowns, radios, checkboxes, text inputs and date pickers that filter and feed a dashboard. These are the first half of interactivity.
9. View filters, sorting and embeddingEvery view carries its own filter and sort, independent of the others. A dashboard referencing a view shares that configuration, and can lay a further layer of parameter filtering on top of it.
