AI suggestions in the panels, and AI-written formulas
The Ask AI button at the top of the Summarize, Match and Split panels picks the grouping, the key and the conditions for you. The formula editor turns one sentence into a formula. Both produce ordinary configuration you can read and change.
This page describes a paid feature that also needs your own API key. On a free license these buttons raise AI plugins are a paid feature.
Ask AI inside a panel
Summarize, Match and Split each carry a purple Ask AI button at the top. Press it and:
- It reads two things: your headers, and a few sample rows.
- The panel shows three steps: Analyzing table information → Searching for potential summary / matching / split options → Generating summary.
- Out come a few options — 3 options found, listed as Option 1, Option 2… Each one is a complete configuration: which column to group by and what to total; or which two columns across two tables are the same key; or the condition to split on.
- Click one and the panel fills itself in — Panel has been updated — with the result previewed on the right. Not right? Customize by myself, or try another option.
- Confirm.
It answers "I've been handed a table I don't know and I don't know where to start": let the AI guess, and you only have to judge. When it finds nothing sensible it says We couldn't find the right matches, please review and retry, and you configure by hand.
AI-written formulas
The formula editor (header dropdown → Edit Formula) has an AI entry with two fields:
- Tables — which columns are involved.
- Description — one sentence for what you want: "total the collected amounts by month", "split year and month out of the date column", "flag anything over 1,000 as a big deal".
You get back a formula, dropped into the formula bar. The header then carries a Formula created by AI hint, a reminder that it deserves a glance. The formula is no different from a hand-written one and you can edit it freely.
AI Generate new row
Toolbar → Add Row → AI Generate new row: describe a record and it fills one in against your existing columns. Handy for test data, or for one row whose format is fiddly.
Dashboard AI
In the dashboard editor you can ask the AI directly: pick a table first (AI will build dashboard from your selected tables), then describe what you want — "booked versus collected by month, plus share of revenue by region" — and it puts components on the canvas. Treat it as a starting point; layout and colour are worth adjusting by hand afterwards. The AI Assistance button on the home screen is the same thing.
How much to trust it
In all of these places the AI produces configuration and formulas, never numbers. The numbers are computed by the engine from the formula, and can be checked. So what you are verifying is "did it pick the right columns, the right condition" — one look at the preview settles it. That is far more reliable than letting a model hand you an answer.
